Ever since I started eating real food over 2 years ago, I have made a lot of homemade desserts. Chocolate pudding is one of my favorite desserts to make. It is very easy and it can have some nourishing ingredients. The only equipment you need is either a food processor, blender or hand blender. This is my favorite chocolate pudding because the banana really brings it all together.
You do not have to feel guilty about eating this dessert. In fact, I think we should get rid of the idea of anyone feeling guilty for eating any dessert! Many times, the reason we have sugar cravings is because our body is lacking certain nutrients.
For example, I find with myself that when I am craving sugar it is because I have not eaten a proper balanced meal. I consider a good meal to be a balance of protein, fat and carbohydrates.
Protein and fat are especially important to the balance for me. If I have a low protein or a low fat meal, I am bound to have sugar cravings or to snack throughout the day on various foods filled with carbohydrates. If I get the right balance from the start, I typically don’t crave snacks or desserts.
All that being said, I think it is okay to have a dessert every once in a while. That doesn’t mean you should go crazy and binge on any old cake or cookies. Strive to eat real food all the time, even in your desserts. The best way to do this is to make your own desserts.
A lot of desserts can be made “healthy” by swapping out ingredients for healthier versions. If a recipe calls for a 1/2 cup of sugar, replace it with a 1/2 cup of coconut sugar instead. Another example is if a recipe calls for a cup of margarine, replace it with coconut oil or butter. Those are very easy swaps.
Now for the recipe. I love simplicity in my desserts. This one will take you 5-10 minutes from start to finish depending on how fast you can prep the ingredients. It is delicious and so easy to whip up. It is also a great way to get in healthy fats like avocado and coconut milk!
- Put all ingredients into food processor and puree until completely smooth. That is all you have to do!! Serve in a bowl and top with blueberries and extra coconut milk!
