What I’ve Been Up To the Past 2 Years and Why I Stopped Blogging

Some of you may have followed me when I started blogging in 2013. Some of you may be brand new to my site. For my old readers especially, I think you deserve an explanation as to why I disappeared for 2 years.

I originally started my blog as a way to spread the message of healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle to a wide audience. When I first began changing my diet in 2011, I wanted to share what I was learning with everyone!

Just about everything I was learning went against the mainstream dietary advice shared and that most people believed in. That is where the name of my site was born: Politically Incorrect Health. A lot of the information I share goes against politically correct nutrition that the government dispels. I am not afraid to speak out and say that this advice can be wrong.

The way we are addressing our healthcare crisis as a nation is like trying to put fire out with fire. It all starts with education and good nutrition. That is what I love sharing on my blog. I want to help as many people as possible.

Why Did I Stop Blogging?

I decided to stop blogging 2 years ago when I realized I had to make a choice between my full time day job and the blog. While my passion is in helping people to heal themselves, I didn’t know how to pursue that through my blog while also working a full-time job.

Not only was my job was getting in the way of me blogging, but my blogging was getting in the way of my full time job. Plus I didn’t know how to make blogging work for me and with only a few connections with other bloggers, I felt very alone. There is a lot more that goes into managing a blog than simply writing articles. There is a lot of background work that most people do not realize.

And so I ended up closing down most of my accounts. Thankfully, I saved all of my old blog posts and am slowly uploading them to the new site. I’m trying to improve on them with more content and better pictures. Fortunately I have access to a lot more resources and have more connections with bloggers than I used to. I’m making friends, which is nice, so I don’t feel so alone. I’m still performing my own research of course, but when I feel stuck, I can reach out to my friends for help.

What Have I Been Up to Since I Stopped Blogging?

I’ve continued to work for the same company as an IT consultant. I’m very blessed to have such a great job and work with great people. For a year, I was on a local project where I didn’t have to travel which was a godsend, in a way unless you consider heavy city traffic a preferable alternative to weekly flying.

More recently, the travel has been slightly less frequent now, but my project is set to end soon. To be honest, I am a little anxious about what my next project will be like. I am doing my best to trust in God that He will give me one that I can handle.

The past couple of years I have been trying very hard to find out exactly what it is I am meant to do. I’ve prayed about it, had family and friends praying for me, and I was doing research as well. Finally, the answer came to me this past December.

My good friend Ritta who blogs at Rawritta shared with me a program she was about to start. She told me about the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and how they had a program to become a health coach. She told me about her blog and how she wanted to pursue that full time eventually.

At first I was hesitant. I began thinking, “is this really right for me?” I learned from my past blogging experience that it didn’t work for me under the old formula. But there were still a number of things I missed about it. And so I decided that I would at least do some research and be open to the idea.

I talked to some of the ambassadors at IIN about the program and discussed my options. The more I talked to them, the more I realized that this was what I was supposed to do. It sounded like exactly what I had been waiting for! My prayers were finally answered.

I enrolled immediately and started classes this past January. It is one of the best decisions I have made about my future. I was so tired of waiting for my passion to present itself. I realized that God had given me the answer a long time ago, but I chose to ignore it. I had wanted the easy path of having something presented to me on a silver platter.

I recognized I did have to do some work initially in order to be on the path to my dream job. I am currently studying to become a health coach. I will graduate next January, but I will be pre-certified next month! I am so grateful that I am on the right path. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Another thing I have been up to is working on healing my PCOS. This has been a long journey for me, but I am determined to overcome it! I will update you on my progress in a future post. I also got married this past October! My husband and I are enjoying being newlyweds :).

I am thankful to those of you that read my blog from the beginning. You are my loyal readers. I am also happy and thankful to have new readers as well. Now that I am back to blogging, I am here to stay.

I would love to hear from all of you. What would you like to learn from me? What are your health questions and concerns?
